5 Speed trans push rod
 

Hello all,
Just wonder if I could get some advice from all you experts. I have an 89 323 with 5 speed tran. The car has a tranny leak quite badly. I believe it is from the shifting push rod. The seal must have gone bad. The mechanics I talked to says that I have to take the transmission out to replace the seal. I check with the Hayne repair manual, but there is no details.

Could some one confirm if this is true, that the transmission has to come out to rplace the push rod seal?
