323 Bumper Question

I have a '91 323 and have noticed that the GTX and GTR models have much slimmer bumpers on the back end and was wondering if the crash support has to be taken out in order to use this bumper as it seems like there is no room to have anything inside of that bumper. Any info on which models had these slimmer rear bumpers and any legal onfo (re: the crash support) would be much appreciated. Thanks. And if anyone knows of a good place to look for one.

My car's ass is huge!!!

Sorry if this should be in Exterior/Interior but I didn't think anyone would see it unless it was under a "323" section. Hope it's ok.

i'm not positive about the rear end, but if there's nothing up front, i doubt there would be out back...but the GTX/GTR bumpers are infact shorter and will not fit with the US spec crash brace. (nor will the EVO3 bumper)

pssst, 4 bolts and it's out of there...shhhhh:cool:

So what do the GTX/GTR bumpers have for a crash brace in the rear bumper? Or does it not have one at all? It must in order to be legal right?

all this portaining to the front, but as i said, i'm pretty sure the rear is the same.

from what i was told by Dwayne from Mazstyle when i gotthe EVO3 bumper is that they just bolt right up, there's no bracing or styrofoam pads in New Zealand, but it may be different elsewhere, but i doubt it.

the GTX bumper i have wouldn't allow the use of neither the brace nor the pads, well maybe the pads, but they'd have to be modified.

the legal specs are different, as are the laws for such specs, so it varies.

in the japaniese market which the gtx and gtr were designed for they dont require the 'crash guard' or foam that is required tn the usa

So if i put a GTR bumper on my 93 protege i have to take out the crash beam?

MAD323 September-24th-2002 02:17 AM

ive never seen a 'crash beam' (i dont live in the usa) ..... so i dont know how big they are .....

but im guessing that they wont fit ......

but the gtr bumper is bigger than the gtx one ... so it might ....??????
