323 body on pro lx
well, went to the junkyard today. lots of fun as always. but i wanted to know if a 323 fender would fit on the protege. i am not for sure so i did not buy the fender that i need before i asked the experts on this site. hopefully you guy will say yes because then that saves me a paint job. reason for the question is we found a red 323 and a white pro ( i have a red pro) i just did not want to have a drive around with a white fender until i got it painted ( since i fire from my job it would be some time soon )
thanks for the replys |
personally, don't know whether the fenders fit, but what i can say is take it to a damn shop cause fenders are a pain in the ass to get off properly and you'll probably end up doing more damage than wanted. either than that, specify years, that can help us more.

My GUESS would be that the fenders are interchangable. Can't you tell just by looking closely? Corner lights are the same so at least we know that it'll fit there:D |
I think they are different. The 323 has a line (crease) at the top of the hood, which goes onto the fender, door, and back window. Otherwise I think the fender would fit.
/edit: Look here... see the line I'm talking about? I think it would fit, but just look funny, though I don't know for sure. http://ebay3.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...f6f575/i-6.JPG |
lol.. bushes
Identity has a good point, no harm in trying, when heading to the junkyard, take a metric socket set, phillips #2 screw driver, heavy duty flat head screw driver for prying, pair of tin snips that will cut 8 ga steel to knock off the pop rivots, pair of pliers, piece of cardboard to lean on obviously, ummm, a hammer might come in handy...but can't think of much of anything else... and if you f*ck it up, throw it in the trunk of the car :) gotta get me a fender soon as well... i was highly unsuccessful however in getting my own off.. so i'm stuck with a half mounted fender for the mean time.. let us know how it goes.

Actually the fenders are pretty easy to take off these cars. I changed mine out in the junkyard parking lot so I wouldn't have to do it at my house in the dirt.

the junkyard was great to me today. i got the fender ( not the one off the 323 the white off the pro) blinker, headlight, brake master cylinder, front right spindle, axle( whole thing) rotor for $108.40. damm i am happy.

323 fenders won't fit the protege. The aft end of the hood is too tall, the protege hood sits much lower in the rear (or above the firewall). I know this cause I bought a new hood last year and tried to use some 323 hood hinges. The damn hinges sat about .25-.50" above my protege fenders. :D
BTW the fenders on these cars are a peice of cake! :p |
The only problem I had was getting the fender off the car in the junkyard, becuase it was sittiong on the ground with no suspension on it. The swap took about 20 minutes.
My driver's fender was fucked too, luckily I found a car just like mine to get it off of. |
