1st gen drivers take alot of crap?
 

i was just wondering if im the only one who hears "that car cant be fast, its just a 4 banger" or "fords suck"
now keep in mind, it might be worse for me, kuz i have a 91 EGT. but everyone who asks me "what kinda car do you have" and i say a ESCORT they seem to laugh and think its some piece of crap grandma car....until they make the mistake of seeing me on the road :nod: then they seem to realize that its not what they thought (mostly kuz they get blazed in thier civics and J-bodies)
all in all, im just wondering if you 1st gen protege drivers get played down as much as us escort (gt) drivers.

Oh, yeah, lots of domestic guys say my car is slow because it is a "4 banger" but they havnt seen my car in action, theyve only seen it in a parking lot... of course there are a few ppl who have said i will smoke their ass but there are alot of ppl who take crap about their cars...YOURE NOT ALONE!!

I got it up to 110mph yesterday i dont consider that slow with it being a 1.8 4 cyl..auto..

Just because you can beat econobox civics and hit 110 mph doesnt mean the car is fast. Just means it will go 110 mph

My CRX could run 143mph... that doesn't mean it wouldn't get beat in the 1/4 by a faster car that has a lower top speed.

Different people have different views of fast..

It is fast(er) than alot of cars in its category and that aren't in it's category no its not a "fast" car by anymeans but its not slow either.

yea i used to get that but i jus dropped in the JDM BP-T motor......and wow...i can't wait till spring see wat the civics say after that........i also get under rated cause i got a roof rack and huge foglights on my car.....shit is straight up rally, that also handles itself on the street...shit's crazy :cookoo:

But your missing the point. Your naming slow ass cars. Now if you said hey its faster than a Wrx or Rsx than i would understand. But beating a econobox civic with an econobox escort or Protege doesn't mean its fast. Granted i like my car also (93 lx 5speed) but i know my 2 trucks and 92 honda accord would beat it in a race and they are not fast by anymeans.

no i get your point thats why i said its not fast by any means but it ain't slow either a mercury tracer or ford escor t with the 1.9 or a geo metro are slow cars,

my escort has a 1.8 bp...and i can get to the speed limit pretty quik. lol, i dont care if its slow, it can beat the cars that it competes against and alot of cars that should be fastER are not. its no EVO or STI, but for $600 and being a '91 its pretty good bang for the buck, and as for the BPT, that is-in fact- fast, ppl beat SRT4's with the bpt, and SRT4's beat WRX's so in my opinion its fast, and by the way, the GTX familia is a STOCK car. (in japan and the uk)

and the point of this thread was not saying that egt's and protege's can beat Vipers, but i was just saying that when the ppl with civics and j-bodies talk crap they dont realize that our cars are faster -stock for stock that is- :bt:

I had a 1994 Base Protege (stripped DX) SOHC, I ported the intake, swapped a DOHC throttle body, a flowmaster exhaust, an RX-7 Airflow meter, and 14 degrees initial timing. It did 60 in 8.5sec. Not fast, but for an engine that produces 103hp stock I don't think that's bad. I topped at 125MPH and pulled on my buddies 94 civics with exhaust, and intake all day long all with junkyard parts that cost less than 100 bucks.

Now I have a stock 91 LX I just bought last night. Let the modifications begin....

About a month ago I could do 0-60 in 7.6 with my B6(sohc) . I had blitz intake. blitz nur-spec r cat-back costom exaust man. with 2.5 inch exaust, magnaflow cat and accell injectors. I sold all my mods to a friend for his B6 tracer and I'm starting over and trying to do better. I'm working on a custom turbo project for my B6 sohc. my dream is to do the 1/4 mile in the 10-13sec range.

I hope this gets seen but......my friend and i are about the same age....and when we first got our licenses (me first) i got the cheap reliable 400$ (I PAID FOR + repairs to get it through inspection) 91 protege dx (stick shift) from my dads friend. meanwhile my friends uncle bought him a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse gl with a cold air intake (ricer) muffler and underglows with expensive rims.....$16,000 + wouldnt u know it....i HAULED his ass all the way to the next light.....S T O C K ......im so proud of my little sohc 16 valve.....right now my new dtm muffler is sitting on my bed and i plan on getting a 2" to 2.5" adapter asap tommorow....my other mods i PLAN on doing

ecu chip that makes ur car think all air is cold air (check ebay for that one)
new hkg plugs (store)
dtm style dual 3.5" tipped muffler (currently own allready)
2" el gauge tachometer w/side mounted pod (ebay)

A new throw out bearing (needs to be replaced)
high performance clutch (anyone have any recomendations?)
high performance flywheel (anyone have any recomendations?)

exterior-
a simple black spoiler, nothing to flashy
these awsome left/right mirrors i found on ebay with LED's in them that flash
