demoninvictus March-17th-2003 10:59 PM

kick ass, nice paint job too, wish i could get my white protege lookin as well as it should

Identity_X March-17th-2003 11:33 PM

Very, very nice:bt:

The spoiler must've taken you forever to paint and install;) :D

The car looks great. Are you considering lowering it just a bit?

rkives March-17th-2003 11:52 PM

The install looks excellent! Perhaps you want to buy my spare set of "GT" Stickers to complete the look!

damn.. that DOES look good. excellent paint match, serious professional work.. very much completes the look of the car.. it looks.. odd, though.. from this angle below.. not flat on top, if you know what i mean... is this a camera trick of false perspective, or does the spoiler really tilt up to the degree it looks like? it looks excellent from every other angle, so i think it's a perspective issue... maybe some more pics would help me see what i'm wondering. :) more pics! more pics!

It does slant up, but it looks a bit exaggerated with all the gloss. It kind of curves up....

Loundarp March-18th-2003 09:22 AM

this spoiler look realy good!

beachnut March-18th-2003 10:29 AM

Thanks a lot guys ... I'm pretty happy with the way the car's starting to look!

Itzkcatz: I bought the spoiler from GlazedHam42 for $115, it was the white one he had originally got for his Pro before he sold his car.

IdentityX: lol! Yeah, you know if I had been doing the painting it would've taken forever! :p Actually, I wish I had done it myself. I took it to Maaco and they suck ... they got some sand embedded under the clearcoat on the top and a paint run on one of the pedestals. They're hard to see, but I notice it because I'm picky. As far as lowering, yes, but only with the Eibach's since I don't want a slammed look. The car does sit pretty high with the KYB struts though.

Rick: I would love to have those GT stickers! I tried to get them from my dealer here, but couldn't. Send me a PM and tell me how much you want for them!

Pseudo: I live in Cape Coral and work in Ft. Myers. IIRC, your folks live in Naples, right? Mine do too, off Vanderbilt Bch Rd. I've been thinking about doing autocross, but I'm a complete n00b, although I consider myself a decent driver. I put that link in my favorites tab. My wife might kill me if I take on another hobby!

Cablemirc: Like Dave said, the spoiler is slanted just a hair - it's not entirely flat. Here's some more pics:

I cant believe how clean lookin your protege is. Is that the original paint job or have you recently repainted it? The entire car looks great. Congrats. Id like to get a spoiler simmilar to that. Been lookin for one. But cant seem to get my hands on one.

Ive noticed that in my trunk, its a 94 jus like urs. There is a small plug. Looks like its hooked to my 3rd brake light. is that what u wired the spoilers light to?

03 wheels look good to. They are supposed to also be made by Enkei. Am i correct? did u check. Ive yet looked at the newer proteges at my work to see if they were.

One other thing. Hows that Borla zx2 Exhaust sound. Deep? lil better then stock? and where and what did you pay for it. I jus replaced my entire exhaust with factory stuff from mazda. Cost $51 for mid pipe(presilencer) and $51 Silencer. pretty cheap if u ask me

beachnut March-18th-2003 11:28 AM

Thanks! Yep, it's the original paint for the most part, although I think the passenger front fender was resprayed. I'm the second owner. The original owner told me that he waxed it every 3 months. Of course, when you see it up close and personal you can see some imperfections and such, but it's pretty impressive for a 9 year old car!

The plug in the trunk lid is specifically made for this spoiler. The brake light harness for the spoiler plugs in perfectly. I removed my window brake light already. I also removed the rear deck cover too. Mazda calls it a "package tray" and they want $100 for a new one without the hole for the light. I think I'm going fab one up on my own using the old one as a template.

The wheels are made by Enkei. The name's stamped inside the wheel on the hub iirc, so you wouldn't be able to see it when they're mounted.

The Borla has a nice deep tone, maybe a tad loud but I don't have a resonator. It's not raspy like so many aftermarket mufflers I hear on the road. I got it from oemfordparts.com for ~$180.
