1992 Protoge Automatic Transmission??
 

:crying: Had a problem on the way home last week. My 1992 Mazda Protege acted very strange.

At about 60mph the engine suddenly increased to 2800 rpm and then just a quickly decreased to about 1000 rpm. The car quickly then returned to normal at about 2400 rpm at 60 mph. Got home okay. No trouble for the past two days of travel.

NE1 know what is wrong or had the same experience. First thing I will do is check transmission fluid level.

My Protege is just like that if you push the gas just a little bit too far it will give a good jump not only in speed but in RPM also, i wouldnt worry to much about it..
