1988 Mercury Tracer Engine swap (same car as 323 i believe)

Ok, so my friend currently owns a 1988 mercury tracer 2door hatch (5 speed), i believe it is the same car as the 323 of the same year. As of now it has the stock 1.6liter I4 in it, that has no balls!

He just finished paying for it (hey, hes 16, lol) and wants to swap in a engine from corksport.... now our question is, will the BP-T drop right in? (1.8 liter, 180 or 210hp... which ever).... or would going with the B6-T work better (1.6liter turbo)... now his main requirement, is alot more power! lol

but hey, if you guys can help out, thatd be great!

well thats good to know, we can always boost that thing up anyways..... hopefully we can get some nice power in that car, heck it weights almost nothing

i think the b6t would definetly be an easier swap

The 1.6L - 1.8L swap in any Mazda (Miata, 323) is not as straight-forward as you might think. Wriring is just one of them nay challenges involved.

If it were my $$$ , I don't think I'd go with the CorkSport 1.8L, as those engines were much more rare and therefore much more expensive. 1.6Ls are cheap and prolific. (Tracer, Capri, Miata, etc)
