Suspension Technique 1"or 1.5"drop??

Can I get some clarification on this subject.

Do the suspension technique springs P/N 60455 drop the car 1"or 1.5"?

Some have gotten 1"and others 1.5"drop. I would like to hear from those that have these springs installed on there Protege or 323.

FWIW, I believe there were 4 different sets of oem springs, so there could be 4 different "ideal" lowerings by any set of springs...not to mention a lot of other little stuff.

OK, maybe I should change my question, what's the gap between the tires(stock size) and the wheel well fender once you've installed the ST(suspension technique) springs?

Why does this only apply to ST springs? I've never heard anybody else say otherwise on other lower springs.

It doesn't apply to just ST springs. ALL springs will differ SLIGHTLY.

Just pull your car upto another protege. I'm sure there will be SMALL differences in how high it sits. Just from stuff like which options the car had. For instance, a Sunroof usually adds ~50 lbs to a car. Being that the stock springs are under 150 lb/in, a sunroof car would theoretically lower the car somewhere over a 1/4" more than a non-sunroof car.

A sunroof won't have an impact since you need to take into consideration all 4 springs. 2 springs of 150lbs/in for the front and the rear ones should be about 110lbs/in each therefore 50lbs at a total spring rate of 520lbs/in is about 0.1" drop.

I just contacted ST and got the following rates.
134-190 lbs/in for the front and 108-120 lbs/in for the rear springs.

Start adding different amounts of gas at ~6 lbs/gallon, crap in the trunk, automatic tranny (probably 100 lbs greater than the manual), size of driver....etc. etc etc.

Yes, ST gave me spring rates, you just have to ask the technical department and they have all the data you need. Tomorrow I'm planning on calling B+G in Europe and ask for their spring rates.

Does anyone have B+G springs on their Protoge or 323? For those that do what's the gap between your tires and fenders?

I still need to know the gap for those with ST springs. Where Protoss where you need him.

I put on ST springs last winter and put my car back on the road in the spring. Theres about 1/2" gap between the top of the tire and the well when looking at it from the side. ST are REALLY nice springs. They keep the lower control arm parallel to the ground and are stiff but reasonable. Now, I have never had any other springs other than my cut GT springs:rolleyes: , but I give ST an A+.
