91-94 Protege suspension
 

:confused: I have Tokico struts w/ 15" rims and now I wanna lower my car but i'm not sure what do go with!!!!! I see sooooo many people telling me what they think is good but I think I should listen to someone that has my kind of car in order to get a better suggestion. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS???? Blue

I always like coilovers- that's what I would get if I were to lower my car. They are cool because they usually use a universal sized spring and you can get almost any length or stiffness (he he) you like, plus you have the adjustable ride height.

I'm not sure what they cost but I think Ground Control is fairly affordable.

If you can, try to find out the spring rates for the ones you want to buy. Generally spring are springs and the brand or manufacturer doesn't make much difference in the quality.

I should have the Ground Control coil overs available for your car. They use Eibach springs which are some of the best in the industry. The Ground Control Coil overs retail for 400.00 & I sell them for 369.00. E-mail me if you are interested. And I do prefer the Ground Control over most coil overs. Very good price & seem to be very refutable. And the Eibach springs make it even better. I can also get Eibach lowering kits. They retail for about 300.00 (my price is a little less than that) but those wont give you the adjustability. They will probably give your car about 1.2" or 1.5" drop.

Im looking in to the same thing. but might be going towards coilovers. b/c i want to change my height. still making up my mind.

Ground Control for are cars run $399. or check on wheelmax.com and then go to sprint springs. a friend has them and he said they worked really good. Plus they are at a really good price. are you looking in to getting new struts to. everyone has been telling me to goto oemfordparts.com and get the zx2 struts. they will fit are cars. Also ask wil he was going to sell he springs and struts at one time. he just put them on. Blue

Any major brand name will do just fine, i personally have Eibachs with the Ford ZX2-R Tokico struts and it handles great!

(i may have missed one or 2)

they vary in amount of Drop from 1" to 1.75" for springs and 0 to -3 on the coilovers.

Depending on your wheel offset, you could rub the rear fenders, even with a 1" drop...i had 35mm offset w/205/15s at first and they rubbed on HARD corners and with rear passengers on bigger bumps. (mind you i had a bit of stereo gear as well)

Blue thanx for all of the info guys!!! I'm a student at PSU, and it's not that flat around here!!! Another thing i'm considering is the winter.... Will that effect my driving for the better or the worse?!?!? I know i'm not going to be driving much during the winter, BUT I sometimes do need to get around.

I was looking into sprint spring b/c I already have the tokico struts that I got from the oemfordparts.com site, and some bushings from them as well. I hear that they are drag springs and I don't know what that really means. i also was looking into susp. tech. springs from NOPI.com

I know about Progressive springs but they sound like the price sounds too good to be true!!! I saw them out of Ptuning.com

Does anyone know of any other web sites that I can go and see what they have to offer four 1rst gen proteges!!!!???????

i'm trying to have something that is low but not too low!!! I think taking 2" off would be a little too much but I mainly want it for street use. I also intend to get some ground effects!!

I go to philly alot and I just wanna make sure that I can drive without having to worry too much about the driving conditions!

right now I have 15" konig diva's w/ 195/50 nitto 450's but my friend has 17" chromes that imma pick up off of him. I guess imma use the 17's for the summer b/c when is snows in PSU.... IT SNOWS!!!!! Blue

The more I think about it the more I tend to go back to the Sus. tech springs b/c they seem to be just right....

what do you suggest I go w/(tires)??? b/c I haven't really seen anything wrong w/ the nitto's. Is there something I don't know????:confused:

what about the nitto 555's or yokohoma parada's????? as far as my summer 17" rims????

i have no idea about the NIttos, but i have been runnng Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712s. they are nice and sticky :D good price too, can find them as low as $75 and thats for 205/45/16

I have the Kumho's also. There are better tires, but not for the same price. They compete very well in wet traction, and they're probably slightly above average for dry traction.

Quick wearing tires is usually the tradeoff for good grip.:cool:

I'm sorry to hear about your experience.:( I purchased my rims and these nitto's on april, and so far I have run them about six or seven thousand miles and I have had no problem.
I live at PSU and I always travel to philly which is about 2.5hours away, and there is alot of construction but the nitto's have held their own!!!!

I'm just deciding what imma do for this winter!!!!!!! Maybe go back to the 13's!!!! what you think?

toyo tires are by far the best tires all around. i used to use the mon my car and they were good grip and lasted me a couple years before i sold the wheels when they still had tread left on them still
