how do you install front pad retaining springs?

i really should have observed how the pad retaining springs are installed on my 92 protege, but the pins were so rusted, i had to use heat and force just to remove them. now i need help as to how the new hardware springs install in teh caliper. i bought new springs and pins, along with the rotors and pads. thanx for any help.
