DIM bushings...
D(o) I(t) M(yself) bushings....
my suspension/bushings ARE SHHHOT... i'm THINKIN of replacing all the bushings myself. i've replaced drive shafts before(been a long time) and have replaced all my struts- but never have done this... any edvice? any special tools i might oughta know about?? bout how long to do it all front and rear? i'll be doin it the hard way...floor jacks and stands. |
some people will tell you that you need a hydraulic press to get the bushing out and the new ones in, but i replaced all the suspension bushings on my old triumph spitfire with a bench vise and two sockets. it should take you the better part of a full day to get at all of them.

Thanks guys for the input.
Sounds fairly basic; just will take some time.
Now, if GTX140 is around.... |
better do it quick too, he's about to leave for 9 months!

Originally posted by PseudoRealityX Pat (GTX140) will hopefully reply here, since he did these himself a while back on his first gen. I believe he needed a real press for a couple but did the rest himself. Old British Sportscars can be taken apart with an adjustable wrench and a hammer;) , so they dont count:D |
did mine on my honda with a butane torch to break the seal and a socket and a rubber mallet took my a full day to do the whole car. Yes I said a butane torch thats what energy suspension recommends if you don't have a press but those press's are only 80 bucks. good luck
