Brake Bleeder Kit

I am going to be replacing my front brake calipers in the next two weeks and wanted to know if anyone out in Protege land has purchased a Speed Bleeder kit for the 1G Pro? If so, who manufactured it? Please if possible provide where you bought it and what the price was.

I am also going to be flushing my DOT4 fluid (Valvoline) for some ATE BLue. From what I hear the ATE Blue is a good brake fluid and it will aid me in bleeding the brakes by allowing me to tell when the old fluid ends and the new fluid begins.

I am interested in hearing from anyone that has feedback on the bleeder kits and the ATE Blue.

Thanks All!!

(If this thread is mirrored I apologize for the redundancy. When I submitted the thread the first time I noted it wasn't updated.)

Bleeder Kit

Thanks Jesse....I was afraid I would get that response. I sorta expected it since I had some probs locating a bleeder kit specific to the 1G. Appreciate the response.

I have the Russell speed bleeder valves installed front and rear. I find them very helpful for bleeding each corner myself. I don't remember the thread sizes off the top of my head, but they come in sizes to fit almost everything. I'm not too sure how effective they would be for completely evacuating the system, because you would have to keep an eye on the fluid reservoir anyway. Somewhat defeats the purpose of being able to do the job yourself.

I would have someone looking after the fluid level during the evacuation process. It's for future bleedings that I think the bleeder kit would be a benefit. I could manage that myself.

Can I ask where you got the Russell kit from?

I think I bought them from Pep Boys. The fronts were something like 8mm threads and the rears were one size smaller. I don't remember the exact sizes.
