?bigger rotors?

As far as braking power the stock brake system is fine in my opinion. But, I have 17" wheels on my car so they make my rotors look kind of small. My questions are:

1. If i was to find bigger rotors as long as they were the same width as stock they would fit right?
2. Would the stock calipers function properly, or in other words help me stop, on these new rotors?

This was all something i thought up in the middle of class one day so bare with me on this quick brainstorm session.

1. yes, if the bolt patteren was the same...but
2. nope, would have to fabricate new mouting points for the claiper since you now have a larger diameter rotor. and with more diameter comes more surface area, so the stock pad size would be pretty small and not be as good as with a stock rotor.

my advise is this, don't waste money on some big brake kit, when all it will be for is show, unless this is your goal, then by all means, knock yourself out and get em.

our cars don't go fast enough to warrant such a big rotor, nor would you see much improvement in braking power. If it's just a look you want, i've seen fake rotors that go on the stock rotor before putting the wheel on, kinda like those dust covers, but shinny and x-drilled.

yeah i thought about the bolts about an hour after i posted. it was mostly for show though as i said earlier the braking power is fine for me. hatin life on those big fake rotors though.
