Hello Everyone

I am trying to locate EGR valve on my Mazda Protege 1994. Can any body tell me where can I locate it and clean it.
I am also trying to change the fuel filter. Where is it located ?

Thanks for your help.

Not quite sure where the EGR valve is, but the Fuel filter should be located on the firewall kind behind and below the intake Manifold. I'm not sure about first gens, but on my second gen, it was a pain in the ass to get out. I had to remove my battery, battery tray, intake piping to get enough room to work with it. Its not that difficult, but it took me around 45 minutes to do because it was the first time for my car. I am quite mechanically inclined though so that helped quite a bit.

to find the EGR valve just look on your exhaust manifold for a thin pipe connected to it that runs back towards the intake manifold. The EGR pulls a little exhaust gas from the manifold and dumps back it into the intake track to help drop combustion temps.

Thanks guys. My car has been stumbling on accelaration when accelarating from a stop sign or street light. I thought it could be the EGR valve or Fuel filter. I already cleaned the throttle body and checked all related sensors. Let me know your opinion.

Thanks and Have a good weekend.

Hey Guys,

I am little embarassed to admit that I could not find the EGR valve, sounds weird but I found something that is attached to Fire-Wall has two hoses connected to it. One is going to intake manifold and the other is going to the canister which is towards left on my car. Any other suggestions to find EGR location ?

Thanks Again
