Will this gearbox fit?

short answer: No
long answer: Hell No, here is why At last, a cure of the broken tranny blues! Not only is the trans stronger, but it has better gearing for 1/4 mile bursts. To start, we rebuild the trans using a HD fully encased 4 spider gear differential, allowing for twice the torque capability for hard off the line launches. Next, we add a 4.59:1 ring and pinion to move the first four gears down lower to maximize acceleration to 100mph. We also use a stronger shift plate mechanism to cut down on bent shift parts, and add a taller 0.69:1 5th gear to keep a tall freeway gear for when you're not racing (imagine a 6 speed trans w/o a 5th gear). If you have a performance ZX2 and have had transmission problems, here is your fix! Also, we include our upgraded Axle King axles that are custom matched and fitted to the trans and a 98-03 ZX2 or 97-02 SPI Escort. Note: Stock CV axles will not fit the new differential |

Thanks for the answer thou. it is the only ford that has a tranny that swaps into a mazda. wow no matter how many times i write that it still feels wierd (i am not a ford fan) |
actually, not to be argumentative, but you shouldnt be so all-inclusive ....1st gen Probe's (non-gt) did have the same G-series tranny...with small modifications it can be swapped also
