What's the difference...

between short ram and cold air intakes? I mean performance wise. Aren't intakes..intakes?

the colder the air the more hp cold air takes cold air from the bottom of ur engine bay short ram takes it next to the motor where the air is hotter so less hp ...Jon 93 lx

take a look at Jesse's thread on "Intake Theory" in the tech section for some info on CAI vs short rams.

CAI is also often referred to as a "wetlands setup" and the short ram is referred to as a "drylands setup". I have heard people complain about getting water sucked into the intake on a wetlands setup since the intake is closer to the ground. There shouldn't be a big concern about sucking water into the intake on the Protege though...the engine bay is pretty well enclosed. Very true about colder air provding more hp. There have been many arguements and discussions on this topic.
