Weird Noise

OKAY I have a weird noise its only when I am braking and almost stopped, and right when i take off and thats only when I hear anything I dont really know how to describe the noise its not really a grinding noise but it sound phucked up...I thougt maybe my struts i know its not my cv joint i just did those...has anyone had a similar problem I would have done a search, but for what:dunno:

Try searching for "noise" in the 1st gen sections. A few interesting threads should come up.

It may be your pads. The braking material might have worn down into the backing plate and it is grinding into your rotors.

okay guys dont burn me on this one too bad...I know I am a tard....I had my friend come over to help me listen for it so we start to drive and he sticks his head out the window, tells me to stop got out yank off my hubcap(origianl lx hubs baby) and my fucking lugnut come plopping out, another one was half way off
fuck tires stores using their damn air wrenches....I never knew a lugnut rolling around in your hubcap could sound like a major mechanical phuck up

D'oh! Somehow the brake heat/dust shield (??) thingy got bent one time and scraped across the brake disc.... sounded horrible...worse than the whistle tip!

Been there, done that. Sounded like a wheel bearing gone BAD in the worst way. Having just redone the wheel bearing... It made me 2 hours late to work on my first day at a new job. Fortunately, they (work) were understanding. :-)

The other bad noise like that I've had was from the backing plates on the Hawk brake pads. Hawk glues a piece on to the back of the pads, and under extreme heat, the glue dies and the pad comes loose and works out from the wheel, scraping the hub. Sure sounds like a bearing dying though. After the second one (of 4) started coming loose, I pried the other two off.
