weird brake/idle problems

sohc, '94

When I brake hard the idle drops or goes out completely (when coming to a full stop)...what is the connetcion between the master brake cyl. and head? any? or idle speed?
started idling poor about 5000 miles ago (105000) for no apparent reason any thoughts???

also idle drops when cig. lighter/lights/any electrical comes on.

Loose ground wire maybe?

Would better air intake solve idle probs?

Ouch, sorry for so many questions, I have been rooting around for the problem for too long by myself...thanx for any/all

auto or manual?

brownplus October-2nd-2002 10:51 PM

manual....and all sparkplugs/wires/airfilter/pcv etc... are new and were working great

check this things if it aint it im beat.

Altenator (could be going)
Air Flow Meter (might be damaged)
o2 Sensor (might be shot)
Distributer cap (make sure its tight, and all connections)

thats all i can think of for now...good luck, o and did u gap the spark plugs?

whuz the gap size that you guys seem to get the best results from? i have an auto, and my car idles a lil below 750.

brownplus October-3rd-2002 10:56 PM

think i fixed it....

this may be coincidence, but a mechanic told me to hose down the butterfly air intake valve with carb cleaner and brush it loose with a toothbrush...i can't see how this relates to sudden braking affecting the idle, but now my idle is back to 750 and purring away....works for now!

thanks for other suggestions
