Transmision Question

Ok, I decided to finally run my car at the track tonight. On the way there i hit a pothole while doin about 50mph. The car seemed fine, but pulled a bit to the right after the hit so I figured no biggie, it's just the alignment. I get to the track and after an hour of waiting, I finally get up to the starting line. I launch off the line at 2000rpm and my car takes off......but then it just rolls to a stop a couple of feet from where I started from. So my question is, what did I break?? Also, did hitting that pothole help cause the damage? I dunno if it helps, but the car won't shift into 1st,2nd,3rd,or 4th gear (5-spd) but if i put it into 5th and press the gas, the speedo will show that I am doin a speed (exp. 55mph) and the car will not move.

Probably broke something in the diff, like a spider gear. Don't know why you can't find a gear other than 5th.

Try putting the car up on jackstands and rotate the wheels, first by hand, and then under power, and see what happens.
