Anyone have personal experiance with timing chain/belt?
I know what the manual state. I have read it.
I am looking for personal experience. At what miles on odometer did you change the chain/belt? I am not doing this myself. What is a reasonable garage/dealer price for this? And at this time, should anything else be replaced? How many miles has anyone gone without changing belt/chain?

According to my service records, it broke at ~90,000 miles. The scheduled change is at 60,000. It is a belt, not a chain. Changing the water pump wouldn't be a bad idea, while you're at it. No idea on the price.

It's not a bad job changing the timing belt, just follow ALL the steps in your manual. Be sure the sprockets are in the correct position (timing marks matched up, etc.) before you take the old belt off. Changing the water pump is a good idea as you expose it to get to the timing belt.

It's a pain in the arse to take off. I have done it on my own and did it just fine but was pissed off. The worst part seems like the easiest, that's taking off the belt cover. Your best bet is to NOT skip the part where it says to take off the crankshaft pulley. Then again, you said you're not doing the work yourself. Another thing is the water pump that I also removed: it was also horrible to remove. I'm just to used to, and too poor, to have someone else do it. Others here will tell you they had no problem with the timing belt cover but that's probably because they were smarter than me and took the pulley off first.

My 91 is at 180,000 miles. This is the third belt repalcement for my car. So I call the dealer and the service dept. says $650.
If I remember correctly, last time it was about half that, but that was three years ago at least, so maybe I don't remember well.
Shouldn't it be about 3 hours shop time plus less than $100 in parts?
