Spark Plug Gapping?

Well while i was in chattanooga today I went to pep boys and found the NGK's that were suggested for my car, because AdvancedAuto and AutoZone did not have them...so now i have them...only one thing stands in my way....How much do these need to be gapped? I never gapped the last ones i put in my car so taht may be half my prob but ive got the NGKs and want them to work properly? anyone know?

Thanks
Ken

If you bought BKR5E-11, it is already gapped correctly. the dash "11" means 1.10mm gap, which is approx. 0.040". I would not mess with it, unless you bought BKR5E (which comes with a 0.90mm gap).

Hmmm, yes, they should be gapped correctly but you should check them anyway.
When I replaced mine and my old Corolla beater just recently I needed to set the gap correctly, they weren't all the same. There were a few that were -.03-.05 mm
off...

gap is the distance between the diode and electrode....the bigger the gap the longer the spark but the better the chance that it wont spark....too close of a gap and there's not enough spark to fire completely.

I set mine to whatever a stockMSP was running...I think it was .045

dude, it's not hard...I have a friggin gapper on my keychain...and just because the box says its gapped to 0.040 doesnt mean that is actually what it is...it's always best to at least check 'em
