SOHC turbo kit

Whut up yall man i havent posted here in like six months. Anyways just wanted to fill you guys in on a shop i found here in San Antonio. The owner is a mazda enthusiast. He fabricated a kit for a 4 cyl mx3 which is the same setup as the dx pro. I went and met the guy today and he has been running 12 psi with this kit for about 8 months with no problems. the original kit is non intercooled with only 4 psi. He is now running an intercooler and i think 310 injectors with a piggyback to tune. thats about all the info i got out of him. The website is www.racingmazda.com He now has a shop called Speedfreaks. He wants over 2000 for this kit though. The manifold looks decent considering the options out there for us neglected sohc owners. turbo on one side wastegate on the other. Peace.

Did you look at the pix on the site? It looks to me like he has the same engine as me even when we had mine and his cars hoods up right next to each other. But you could be right.

i have the sohc engine in my protege, and that mx-3 engine looks the same, but the bolt pattern on the manifold could be different, you never know. maybe send them an email if you're interested?

on the other hand, 2 grand seems like a lot for a kit with no intercooler and no management.

or you could just buy a gtx motor for 1000 and have a dohc turbo engine to run with 180 stock hp, but spend 2 grand on a turbokit for your sohc and pull around 150

yeah, i'm with ya on that. that's why i said, 2 grand is too much. plus you'd still have to get an intercooler, computer, etc.

The site says "15% over stock." that's nothing! you could get 15% over stock with bolt ons. definately gtx would be the way to go.

If the manifold did bolt up to the sohc protege bp01 heads though, then that would be a good start to a custom sohc turbo project. whatever floats your boat i guess.

yeah he was getting 15% increase with 4 psi hes been running it with 310 cc injectors at 12 psi and intercooled now, i think he said he was getting like 165 hp. He had to use a piggy back when he started using the bigger injectors. its hit 15 psi before but his afm is maxed out past 12 psi. But i emailed him and he said it was for the 1.6. If he made a manifold for the 1.6 im sure he can make one for the 1.8. thats all im really interested in here.
