SOHC and free flow cats

I used the search feature and saw some general information on cats from CATCO, Random, DynoMax etc., but most posts were regarding either 3g's or DOHC 1g's.

Anyone have a free flow cat on their SOHC protege. I melted mine and will be replacing it (undetermined manufacturer for now) with a 2inch inlet/outlet.

My big question is will a high flow cat kill torque on this mouse motor? I need to retain as much of the power I have as possible. Loss is unacceptable and a gain is welcome. Realistically I don't expect more than a 1-3 hp gain in the best case scenario.

The manufacturers sites I have visited (Random for example) mention that power may actually be lost, depending on the application. So I'm lookin for some opinions from SOHC owners who have installed a high flow cat as to whether they seemed to have gained or lost power.

Additionally, any particular opinions on which universal cat is better engineered etc than the other? What kind of cat is everyone running?

i'll hazard an answer...

i've read/heard good things about Random....and it seems that if you get the right size (2inch in/out) you wouldn't lose any.....
as for my cat, i dunno who makes it....it was what the muff shop stocked.

BTY...how are those MS stut mounts? did they make any diff??
