Rolling Back Odometer?
 

I just recieved my LX cluster from a guy on here and it has 184,xxx miles. My car only has 119,xxx miles on it and I'd like to roll back the new one to reflect the actual mileage. I remember someone on here telling me that they knew how to do it, but I can't remember who it was. Could someone please enlighten me?

It's more legal to replace your cluster with one that has the mileage off than to 'roll-back' your odometer. You're treading on very thing ice. I'd just document very well with pictures, etc. when you swapped the two clusters.

When Ireplaced My cluster on my 92 DX with one from aLX ,i had the dealer stamp a age that the OD was changed showing the date it was changed ,the orginal milage and the new milage .then show the differance .,I kept this in the car at all times .

now...shoudl it matter, i mean u need documenttation for urself to know the current millege on the car..
But its for your own use, who cares if u roll back to adjust to you current millege on ur car/engine.

I can see the point in rolling back the oem cluster when ur selling ur car to make it seem like less miles on it. thats illegal. but its ur own cluster. Its like saying. Ill goto a junkyard and get locked up for rolling back clusters that are lying around on the ground.

Well, he's not planning on letting the odometer sit on the ground, is he? He's putting in it his car. What's the big deal anyway, if it's just for his personal use, why should he have to roll it back? :rolleyes:

The whole reason is because I know that if I was buying a car, I'd be leary if the owner said it had mileage issues or something. I don't want the owner to be suspicious at all. Would you trust someone that said "oh yeah, the odometer says 186,xxx but it really only has 119,xxx". I know I sure wouldn't.

well you know if you sell that car joey, im gonna be the one buying it so i dont car what the milage reads. just roll it back
