radiator probs
 

see if any one else has this prob. i have put about 7 radiators in my car since i have owned it. a new one about every 6 months. this problem is annoying as hell.:rant: the owner before me put 4 in. i have checked defferent things and everyting comes out normal. i did a cylinder head leak test to see if and combustion gas were leaking into the coolant system and it came out normal and a compression test which came out normal. i don't know if its just because of the make or what. its an o-rielys radiator that has plastic reservoir tanks. what happens is it will blow the head off of the top plug thats in the reservoir next to the radiator cap. this really sucks cause it pumps all the coolant on top of the distributor and cause a missfire that can only be cured by tearing down the distributor and spraying brake clean in it. i have fixed this by removing the plug and installing a new metal plug. but after time the reservoirs come apart. the o-rielly's radiator is warranty but its very annoying doing this every 6 months.

Yeah, I posted a while ago about my radiator problem and everyone seems to have had this problem at least once. For mine, I put super epoxy over the crack where the plastic busted. IT busted a secon time and I did that again.

Of course, don't use that as a permanaent fix, but it it saves you from buying 10 thousand radiators. We're having a custom radiator done with metal tops and bottoms when we swap the engine out, or we'll try to mod a radiator from a different vehicle. I just personally don't want to mess with it untill I have room to play with it and get it right, rather than fixing it every few months.

I just went to my local rad shop and asked if they make replacement rad's with metal tanks. After that was replaced, no more rad problems!

This is a very common problem.
