do you have any idea what rods are in the BP??

they are the same as what is in the 1.8L GTX.

BP rods != miata rods

With my engine I have ran 12 to 18 psi with Protege SOHC pistons and it still runs strong. Obviously some caution has to be taken like better fuel pump, MSD ignition retard, two step if possible. AN extra injector will not hurt. Like I said running strong and have had no problems; RX-7 turbo, hot shell modified to .63 trim, RX-7 intercooler with customized bigger inlet, outlet, Eclipse turbo fuel pump, factory ECU, MSD ignition retard, cold spark plugs, on 91 or higher pump gas.

like i said kia = miata rods

miata rods != BP rods.

iirc sohc rods are similiar to Bp rods..

1.6L GTX > 1.8L GTX rods... (meh, i didn't believe it either)

you put any turbo engine in a light enough body you can dive deep into the 12's and 11's

GTR stock runs 13.1s w/ 220bhp on the 1/4mi. swap the head with the n/a head and overboost, you are deep into the 12's

A first gen guru needs to check in and clear this up!!

to answer your question, YES the miata long block can handle boost. the Protege's dohc long block is also and awesome platform for boost. the protege's bpze has GTX internals which came stock boosted. it almost seems like mazda originally intended the protege to be boosted but at the last minute changed their minds.

off topic

brock what do you 1/4 mile without your sterio stuff and what boost are you at, I am doing 5 psi on a mitsu 14b, i havent 1/4 miled yet but im looking for about a 15.5 (just a guess)
