Ordered a BPT w/ ECU and Trans

Well

after months of trying to find a decent donor MX-6 / Probe I have given up and decided to pick up a BPT motor.

The motor comes with Intake / Exhaust ECU and trans.

I have a 90 GT, is there any use for the Trans in my application?

I heard the GTX trans was a weak point, is the stock GT trans the way to go?

The trans is going to be for a 4wd car(if it was pulled out of the car with the bpt...), so the GT trans is the way to go.

Thanks, I read somewhere that the GTX comes stock w/ LSD, is it even possible to use it in my trans?

I can't answer your question there. Some playing around would tell you...

May I ask how much you paid for everything?

I picked up the Motor for $1800CDN, the Intercooler from a Probe GT for $200CDN and an 93RX7 Turbo Fuel pump for $225CDN
Hopefully it all comes together smoothly!

Hey, let me know how it all comes together. I have one on order and I'm not sure how easily the swap will go.

With a proper intercooler, exhaust, filter and a ported head, you should make 300 hp at 1.5-1.6 bar with a GT-R engine on stock internals. If you change your oil at a regular basis, don`t drive it at high rpm`s before the temp is high enough and don`t stop it before the engine has cooled down, you have a really reliable setup ...If the engine comes from a GTX, it gets a little more complicated. The turbo is a lot smaller, and the engine internals are weaker. Personally, i wouldn`t even think of trying to get 300 hp out af a near-stock GTX-engine.

I don't believe the GTX block is too much weaker than the GT-R. It's missing the web casting and the squeeze cast pistons but with all that stuff missing I still managed to pull 325bhp and 335lb-ft of torque out of a GTX block with a GT-R turbo and GTX head.

The head is where the power is, both turbo's respond very well to a good port & polish.

Where do you live in canada. I'm near montreal in Quebec and i just bought my gtx today Nearly the same price has you. I have the transmission to. I'm going to know next week probably if the lsd fits in a gt transmission. I work in a transmission shop and one of the rebuilder his going to check it with me. I may have the ecu for 200$.

I live in Victoria BC,
I had my GTX transmission taken apart to see if there were any usable bits from that transmission.
The viscous LSD is in the "central" housing prior to the propeller shaft so there is no way to use any part of it in our application unless you are possibly upgrading a 4wd Pro.
I ended up just rebuilding my existing transmission. There were very few bits if any that were transferrable from the GTX trans.
I finally have almost all the pieces to put it all together possibly in the next week or two. It's taken much longer than I originally expected (Waiting for Mazda Parts).
If you are going the way of the GTX ECU, dont forget you need the Knock Control Unit off the firewall.
You might also look at swapping the Head off your GT to the GTX. The GTX has a "restriction" on the intake side of the head for some reason.
I am going to be doing up my N/A for a later upgrade with a Quaffe LSD possibly!
