Ok.....
OK. I have a 1990 SOHC mazda protege 5 spd. Now, is that a 1.6 L or 1.8 L?? I have heard both, figure you guys would know. Is there a way to look and find out for sure? thanx

If you're in the U.S., it's a 1.8L .
look at the vin number and look it up
its a 1.8L.:)
yea 1.6's were in japan right?
Or in the Mercury Tracer
it acctually matters you can acctually get the 1.6 in america i have seen a couple on either this forum or the other one but u need to check for ur self
The 1.6 was in the 323, MX-3 I4s had a 1.6
the pros did also ive seen a couple in a junkyard around my house i think it kinda a special oreder for ppl that wanted economy over power or somthing
Look at the intake manifold the injector for the 1.6 are on the manifold and the 1.8l are on the head
the 1.8's had the plugs in the center of the head. the 1.6's had them in the front. :)
Are you sure? Maybe mine has a 1.6? The plugs are at the front of the head on mine...
What the hell is going on with this car? |
dohc had plugs in center sohc had plugs in front
the question isn't whether it is sohc or dohc, it's 1.6 or 1.8. My plugs are in the front. rotor is on the right side of head.
