oil problem

Hey guys, do you have this problem too???

When i check my oil, engin cold or hot it doesnt matter....
The stick sometimes show OVER "full" I wipe it, then no oil on it, wipe it again then FULL again ..... It is so weird!! I can't understand what is going on !!

I need help figuring what is up cause I don't want my engin to blow, I cant buy another $$$$$ hehehe

Thanks !!!

When the engine is running, the oil is under pressure. This pressure pushes oil up the dipstick housing a little ways.

When you check the oil, this pressure is absent and the oil is pooling.

There is no problem. Be Happy.

hehe you did not understand my question..... i don't check the oil while the engin is running LOL

anyway I found what was the problem and it was between the car and behind me .... I mean.. ME

Was me the problem.....

I don't think I misunderstood the question.

The pressure pushes the oil up the dipstick while the car is running. Then you turn the car off, but the oil is still on the dipstick at the pressurized level. When you first pull out the dipstick to check the oil, there it is, above the fill line. That's why you let the engine sit for a few minutes, wipe it off, and re-insert the dipstick to check the oil level.

Eitherway...there is no problem.

I have this problem. It's strange. I'm not checking it when the engine is running. How'd you solve it?

SCiMMiA24 November-3rd-2002 03:25 PM

add more oil... when oil is needed it does this strange thing.... that's how i solved it .. I know its like "dah..." but well... now everything's ok.. I keep it in middle of L and F ...

I had to drain some of the oil some time ago actually, being my first oil change I put the full 4 quarts (owners manual said 4.2 quarts) in and it ended up being way over full. So I drained it to just below the top O on the dip stick which is just above center. Anyway a few days later I checked it again and it was above the F again, not far above but enough to make me think there was something really wrong, then I checked it again and it was back to where I had drained it. Something tells me you have to wait until the engine has been cooling for a while because the oil must pressurize up the shaft a little and stay on the walls so you get an inaccurate reading.
