oil burning help
 

i was told that i can replace something in or on the valves to stop or minimize oil burning

as you can probally tell from the above statement that i neither know alot about the working or inside of my engine other than the fact that it needs new valve gaskets or rings or something

does anyone know what would stop oil burning?

what is it called that i need to replace? and how much would it cost aprox?

and what would or should i need to replace while im there (like the valve cover gasket?)

i know theres not alot of info to go on here but all i need is to know the part name and the cost and i have the guy that can get it done

I think itzkcatz was talking about piston rings.

What you probably heard about are valve setm seals, these are what keep oil from seeping down the valve stem past the valve guide and into the cylinder.

But if you are going to do that you might as well just pull the head and have the whole head done. Before you do that though get a compression test to see if the rings are still good, have them scope the cylinder and look at the walls to see if they look ok. you don't want to fix what is not the problem.
