Newbie Idle question
 

Hi all, this is my 1st post! whoo hoo, i am glad to join you, i just retired my automatic 95 corolla DX, for this automatic 92 protege LX, and when I idle in Park or Neutral the engine is fine, but when i put it into gear the idle drops real low and the car shakes horribly if you do not apply gas, i have talked to a mechanic and he says it might be a valve, so i checked the compression on my cylinders, from left to right my cylinders read 150, then 140, then 140 again, and then number 4 (the far right cylinder) read 105! so i believe this might be my problem, i am not sure, if this has hapened to anyone else plese fill me in, and again i am proud to join this Gen 1 Protege club, my name is chad and i am from minnesota, i hope you can be of some assistance :) thanks:D

wow never seen anyone describe this shaking problem stopped in DRIVE down to specific detail down to compression HEHE

yeah its a known problem. i suppose its worse in an automatic. i have the same prob in my 92 pro dx. but the shaking sometimes is real bad and lately its usually been ok. not too bad

something to do with your idle. Try raising it.
