Miata Block?

Hey everyone,

Ive got just a quick question so here it goes. I have a 323 GTX w the 1.6. yesterday i guess the front of the crank decided it was sick of the rest of the engine and left and some how it the process of breaking off cracked my block. Now from what i understand the miata bolck is suppose to be the same? And if so then my head should bolt up to it so i can get back on the road untill i can rebuilt my original one correct? or is this a bunch of bad info? Now i did check part #'s as far as crank and head gasket in the part #'s are the same for the Miata and the GTX so any info here would help remember im just trying to get back on the road for now until i can redo my original block.

Thanks for any help guys.

Yeah the B6 Miata block is the same and will fit fine.
The B6 problem is quite well known.
Get a block from a 91.5 model as this was when the problem was fixed, sometime during late 91.
If you find a junked Miata this site
http://members.aol.com/solomiata/MX5Engine.html
*might* tell you what VINs to look for.
I've read the page beefore but can't remember if its on there.
While you're at it I think the Miata cams are slightly hotter than the older B6, and if I'm not mistaken, the NA head flows better too.
