metal head gaskets for the BP
Has anyone stumbled across any metal head gaskets for the BP motor .. I know that toda makes one, but I wanted to see if anyone else makes one for the BP that lowers compression(thicker gasket) and also is made of metal

I do thank you for the info , and I may have been around longer than you , but rember I only gained interest in the 1.8 maybe 6 or 7 months ago .. I am really just getting into it . and will have a better understanding as I am moving along.

Piston Compression
I am rebuilding a BP from a '95 EGT as we speak and was thinking of replacing the pistons with something with a higher compression, like those from a Miata 94-97 BP. Does anyone know if the stock rods can be used with the Miata pistons, or would there be a difference is size/length?
PseudoRealityX, since you seem to know alot about the BP engines, what would you recommend for pistons? And if you were rebuilding a BP, what kind of stuff would you get done? This question is for anyone who has alot of knowledge of the BP engine. Also, what is the compression of the stock '95 EGT pistons? Is it the same as the Pro? And about the head gasket: I have a Felpro head gasket to use when I put everything back together. Is using this gasket a mistake, or are they as good as the stock one? |

Pink, I don't understand your comment or how the link you added has anything to do with pistons. Could you please explain the reasoning behind your last post.
I am most likely replacing the pistons and was contemplating using higher compression stock miata pistons as long as the rods are the same length. Any advice or insight you can give to me would be great. I am mostly just trying to build a strong, reliable BP engine and thought of doing some work to it while it is out of the car to give me a little added performance. Maybe 15-20 HP with the porting/polishing, and possibly higher compression pistons. Nothing crazy. I am still fairly new to alot of this, so any pointers would be helpful. |
