LSD
My question is, does anyone know of a place to get an LSD? i know that corksport has one but its $1411
a tad out of my price range, not to mention that it talks about how i need an mx3 drivers side axle and custon stub shaft. I know it is kinda a dream but are there any LSD that just "drop in" or if nothing esle are there any cheaper ones out there? any info would help greatly |
The Quaiffe is a sweet LSD, worth it if you can afford it.
There is a Phantom Grip LSD for our cars, considerably cheaper in price, no idea about it's quality though. |
thanks for the reply mazdaspeedwest but when i go to
http://www.phantomgrip.com/apps-display.html it says that the LSD will only fit the 91 year? Is there are difference between years or can i just use a 323 model? Has anyone ever used the Phantom Grip LSD? |
I don't know for sure, but I have heard on this and other forums that the LSD from the current Mazdaspeed Protege will work on first Gen's. Some folks on the other forum said they were able to get them from the mazda dealer for about $600 IIRC.

the lsd in the mx-6 is the same as the pro lx tranny but it won't bolt up(different bellhousing) so can i just take the guts from it and put it into a pro lx tranny
don't i need custom axels then too |
Man i would love to get my hands on a MSP limited slip. are there any mods that i would have to make to the axels? if anyone has a link of where i could find out more about it i would be greatful.
oh and PseudoRealityX what do you mean "apparenly somewhat different" are you refering to the fact that it only lists the 91 yr for the protege or are you talking about it being different from other units? btw thanks guys for the responces |
So the LSD from the new mazdaspeed Pro fits in the G series tranny found on the LX with no mods?? I just fits right in??
|
Thats what I figured.....:(
|
the real question with useing the mazdaspeed lsd , is will the axles fit . I doubt the G series axles would fit in the lsd or but would fit in the spindle .. then use the mazdaspeed axles and they fit in the lsd but not the spindle ..
unless ofcourse the axles from the msd will git in our spindles |
for the msp differential you could take if they fit the axles from the g tranny but put the end of a msp. The general way of work of an axles his pretty much always the same so if you could just change the end of the axles it would mates to the diff and the spline at the wheel
|
What i mean his that the ends of the axles are removable. If you could fit the end of a msp on a axles shaft of your car you would by okay the end that go to the diff would be the right one and the rest of the axles would be the original one. The two end (i don't know are they are call in english) of the axles are removable from the shaft they are hold in place by a snap right and they fit on the spline of the axles shaft. If the spline of the shaft and the size his the same it would fit
|
Okay but the shaft lenght aren't really important are the end (where it rotate) the same lenght and i don't know if it's doable on a pro i know that on some car you can do it has the spline used on the shaft of the axles are the same. I'll try to find a photo of a dismantle axles to show you what i mean.
