Protege91LX July-9th-2003 11:04 AM

where can u get them from???

celi85 July-9th-2003 12:16 PM

yes, the Ractive intakes will work on the SOHC as well. Ractive has been making the intakes for the 1st gen Pro for quite some time now. im surprised you guys hadnt seen them sooner. if you want one, you can get them here. :D

nope, Ractive is Toucan Industries (Eurolite, R1, Ractive, etc) Weapon-R is a different company. Unless Toucan bought them out....??

bob1014 July-10th-2003 12:05 AM

just a tad on the pricey side if you ask me!

demoninvictus July-10th-2003 01:29 AM

now, my question is, those ractive intakes, do they bypass the VAF...and also, do these suckers have that notch on the intake tube you can hook your PCV breather tube into? just wondering.

you say get an ebay intake... but what the fuck is this?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2422869360
i don't see where a 90 degree bend is required anywhere in our intake system, and even so, such a poor design could only REDUCE air flow, not increase it. OR, is that picture just a 'wrong' picture? now this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2422420557
this DOES look like a feasible intake for our cars, i can understand something like that working... ah, i can't wait until i get mine in the mail... just to see "Cheap E-Bay No-name Assclown Intake" :) sad thing is, i probably will to... is the second intake worth getting? thanks fellas.

i think i saw a plug to put the air sensor in on the side of the tube...and it comes with the hole on the other side to attach to the manifold

demoninvictus July-11th-2003 12:24 AM

lol, i'm not playing the jackass card here protoss, i'm actually asking a question, after researching a bit, i did find what i needed to know about that. bottom line, i am going to order an inake tomorrow, i just can't see the worth in spending 200 bucks on the weaponR intake. if you've got some interesting information to feed me, please do, eitherwise, you took my post in an off the wall sarcastic manor.

hey guys, got my adapter and cone today, tight fit!!!! has a great sound now too, my question is after a short/long drive does your cone feel warm/hot to the touch???? I dont know if it should mine does, I just never remember on the stock intake, let me know please!!!

94protolx July-12th-2003 09:41 PM

how much heat does the shield actually block???how easy is it to make one????and what do you use??

94protolx July-13th-2003 12:31 PM

does the intake actually do much for power at all, it felt good lastnight driving it around, but the sound was more noticable then anything else

From what I have been researching intake wise, is that a 95-99 non-turbo eclipse intake will fit our cars. Probally the SOHC better. Just look at the angles the intake has from what would be from the throttle body directly to the resonator box so you don't lose the 4 pounds of torque that other people usually do when making a custom intake on their Pros when they take their resonator box off. All that it looks like you would have to do is cut the mount part off and maybe just a little bit at the end of the pipe. Also you will need one more coupler for the pipe to connect to the resonator box.

would be awesome if someone wanted to try it out. From just looking it seems like it would be a perfect fit, if not just a tad long.

demoninvictus July-14th-2003 12:46 AM

well, there are many things that i'm contemplating about our intakes. personally, in stock intake setups we're talking the intake will heat enough where it's too hot to touch... basically just because of the heat radiating off the engine, and i've driven long enough distances and delivered enough pizza in the last 7 months to know, that over long distances and long running times, everything inside your engine bay will heat extensively. a heat shield for your entire intake would not be impossible to fabricate and could be done with sheet metal used in HVAC systems.. the only person i can remember doing this was mazdaspeedwest... so his input would be paramont in this situation.
as far as the eclipse intkake, you'd have to measure the lenth between the throttle body and the resonator... or the air flow meter on our cars to know specifically. even if the approach angle isn't that ideal, the flexibility of rubber adapters is limited in my opinion.
personally, i decided to just give it a shot and purchased an intake off of e-bay, and after much debate, i'm gonna give it a 50% chance of working.
http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel...ages/sri56.jpg
the point was brought up that this ebay intake that i purchased was actually 3 inch tubing and wouldn't be as beneficial as a 2 1/2 inch intake, but what the hell i figured, better than stock, right? i don't even see with this intake if the resonator is eliminated, how the cone filter is mounted or anything. so all said and done, i might have gotten screwed out of 50 bux, but at least you'll learn if it's worth it. just hang in there and wait for my posts.
peace
