This is an excellent find. I just installed mine from tradesonic.com along with a 3" ID Hiper cone air filter (that is treatable like a K&N), for $19.99 that I got on eBay. For under $50, you can take out all that plastic for the air filter box, etc. and have a better flowing intake.

I have also seen on eBay a 3" Hiper cone filter with adapter for many imports including Mazda's starting at $24.95. Timing is everything.

Be sure you get a short enough filter for it. Most of the cone filters that I've looked at are too long to fit without tweaking your stock intake tube. The driver's side headlight assy. and fender get in the way of most cones. I have to special order the cone filter for mine because it's such a close fit.

The Hiper cone filter I got was about 6.5 " long. When connected it is tight against the inside left edge where the opening is to go behind the left headlight. I have a couple of small pieces of cut rubber hose fit in so the paint on the end of the metal filter doesn't get cut up. This tight fit though helps hold up the filter and the MAF unit and part of the intake tube is very close to the plug wires where they attach to the distributor but is ok. Tight but does work. I will try to bend up and attach a custom heat shield at some point (although you can buy a "Tenzo" unit for about $49. On the filter size I probably would have been happier with about a 5" max length. Good caution aiR_Sik.

will that adapter work on a 94 323 with a 1.6. just wondering. thanx. speed

Yes it will, the 1.6L and the 1.8L use the same mass flow sensor so it should bolt right up no probs.

P.S. Don't apologize for having a 323, they're lighter than a Pro, and lighter means quicker.:bt:

Ok, I have a 323 1990 and I'm going to swap the engine and transmition for a Protege LX with a twin cam and all that... So I was wondering if I have to special order the cone filter or I can buy this one on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=598501896
and install it in my car ?.. Did I mentioned that I'm planning on using a RX7 AFM ? I read some where some body did it in his Protege, so if I'm going to mess it up I better do it all the way :D
