HELP !! Is STARTER dead ???

Ok.. I did the search and that's what i figure:

My starter DIED !!

That's the situation: my car has been having difficulties starting in the mornings... I first thought it was the battery... then I bought a new battery. Lately, I've been hving the same problem again: slow starts --> Bad Alternator, I figured.

But since the car was running ok (not perfectly, but running) I never bothered about changing the alternator.....

Now the big problem: this morning I went to drive my car and only CLICKS !! :( :(

I first thought it was the battery.. I got my other car and I tried to jump start the Protege.... It didn't work !! :(

I had the idea it could be the starter.. I then came to ProtegeClub and read about it. I still believe it is the Starter..

Could someone more experienced help me out ??

Does that really sounds like a bad starter ??
(wow.. I checked the fuses... they are ok)

And if that confirms... how difficult is to change that ??

Any how-to ??

Any tips ?? Anything AT ALL ??

Maybe some pictures ???

Thanks in advance.. honestly.

try banging on the starter with a hammer. in some cases this will make it work, at least temporarily. usually a clicking is the battery though. if the alternator is bad, it won't recharge the battery so you if you jump the battery, the car will start, but as you're driving, the battery won't recharge because the alternator isn't working.
