flexpipe in place of resonator?
i want to get rid of my resonator/pre-silencer and was wondering if i could use a piece of flexpipe in it's place? would i be better off just getting a piece of regular pipe to put in it's place? which way would be cheaper? also, since i have stock exhaust piping, should i get a 2" pipe, that way it should slip right on to the stock piping right?

flex pipes aren't cheap , especially one that long. Piping is cheap.
if your having a shop do it, they'll just flair the ends to slip over the stock pipe. If your doing it, a 2" ID pipe might slip over 1 7/8 ID pipe, not sure. |
anyone know how long the resonator is?

How much of a difference would it make? Would it still smog? I noticed that if I give a couple of taps to my resonator you hear a sound, I guess like pebbles in a box or whatever, well the ceramic pieces rattling around. :) So basically it's shot I suppose...just curious what it would do to remove it. I was searching for this but there is a thread right here on it! :)

it's gonna make the exhaust louder. anyone think it will gain a hp or two? i'm also not sure about the smog part. hopefully someone with more knowledge on exhaust stuff can help us both out.

i'm gonna remove the resonator and put in a straight piece of pipe in it's place. how much louder will it be?

I thought that was the resonator... |
