Engine Swaps!

I have an 94' DX (auto)w/ 137000 miles and I wanna swap soon before she blows but I need to know what are my choices. I have been reading about what the differences are and all but it doesn't go into too much detail. I know this is not legos and there must be some other things invoved.

For example: A BPT motor swap... okay there is a motor....what about the intercooler????? what about any boost control???? etc....

I want to do it within the next year b/c I have a leak in that is oil soaking my drive belts and I rather spend the money on a nicer engine all together!!!!!!

Hard to say what the best option is with an auto tranny, as the BPT might eat that tranny for lunch. I don't know anyone with a BPT and auto tranny......Converting to a 5sp tranny will be more work than it's worth.

from cheapest to most expensive:
1) BP DOHC swap
2) BPT swap
3) KLZE 2.5L V6 swap

so you think then I should just go w/ a dohc??? I thought so all along but I don't really know where I can find one...well a good one atleast....

anyone know where there a shops that have mazda engines in the east coast???

if the engine is on the way out, you may want to think about selling the car and getting one with a 5sp tranny and then doing whatever swap you want. But if you just wanna swap engines, i think the BP DOHC would be the safest way to go with an auto tranny.

3800$ CDN for a complete swap, and plus they change a few other things to make it run clean and well. That's equivalent to..... 2000$ US? Not bad if you ask me, you get the 2.5L V6 KL engine, 170hp, proven 1/4 mile times of 14.3 with the 323!!!

Oh yeah, where do you live again?

Isn't there any turbos out for that engine?

There might be, but youre not gonna get them in a protege engine bay along with the V-6. There isnt much room at all, unless you have a really good guy to bend you all sorts of pipes. There were some turbo manifolds made, but im not sure who carries them, or how available they still are.

Engine Swaps

Go to www.soshinusa.com and tell them that you want the gen1 LX DOHC engine. I think the last time I talked to them, the quoted me $895 for the DOHC. You can try that one. I have an auto too and am trying to figure out what to do with it. I think I am steering more towards getting an '88 GTX and rally racing it.
