DOHC head on SOHC work?

I have a 91 protege SOHC motor.I was wondering if the DOHC head would fit right on.Anyone know?

Yes, they have the same block, but with all the labor involved it'd probably be cheaper just to buy a DOHC motor and install it.

Yeah, the compression ratio on the SOHC is 8.9 to 1 and on the DOHC I think it's 9.1 or 9.5, I forget. It's probably just from the heads and not the pistons.

The DOHC head conversion on a 91 SOHC would cost 600$CAN with labour (garage quote). I don't know about all that compression stuff, but the pistons don't need to be changed for the conversion to work. Just the head and the ECU (included in the 600$). I know a guy in MTL that did it. I'm gonna try to get a hold of him to find out more. He did it himself, so he should know better than anyone.:bt:
