Another one from Montreal where are you in Montreal i live in repentigny just outside of montreal. For the crossmember of the mx-3 what do you mean i know they have the same has us for the support of the tranny and that they have another one on the v6 model that hold the lower side of the front suspension together if it's that one your talking about forget it it doesn't fit i've tried it the only way you could do it is to weld it in place.

It's the big 2 bar kinda thingy running vertically under the engine.

Are you doing a V6 swap? :) What's with the mention of an MX3?

Hmmmmm so what do I need to use for the KLZE with let's say a 626 V6 tranny ?
because this pics is from http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=364076&page=1 and he is doing that swap (dunno wich tranny) and he said he used the mx3 crossmember?

I'm from Le Gardeur.... just a couple of houses beside you lol

Chastan: I am planning on doing it maybe next year, first I need to find a damn job... then I will start spending :D

EDIT: he is using the MX3 V6 tranny

the mx-3 cross members will bolt in. If you have ever removed a cross member, it is bolted on the frame and craddles the tranny. If you are doing a KLZE swap then you need to bolt in the mx-3 crossmember cause it is different than a Escort GT or 1st gen pro crossmember. Then when its done, you will have the right fit for the tranny and the transmission mounts will bolt into place. I dont know why all these 1st gen gurus are against the KLZE swap, Greg has got his in his escort now and when he finishes the turbo he will be going really quick. Considering you can pick one up and have it installed for $3000 cdn and you get 200hp, its a decent swap!

yeah but the mx3 crossmember will fit with all the KL V6 tranny?

Use the V6 MX-3 crossmember, and V6 MX-3 transmission. That'll do what you want, I'm pretty sure :)

mazdaspeedwest June-25th-2003 10:52 PM

Correct, the V6 MX3 or GS models for the KL swap. But, the G series MX6, 626, Probe GT tranny is what you want.

The crossmember in this case is a front to back, not a side to side. :D

SCiMMiA24 June-25th-2003 11:24 PM

but, i'm starting to be confused lol

Now let's explain what i want....
I want the KL-ZE engine in my protege... ok
I want the tranny to handle well the engine, (the MX3 tranny that comes with the 1.8L engine looks like to be a little weak with this engine)
I want the tranny to be able to handle a supercharger
Is the MX3 1.8L 4cylinder the same as the MX3 2.5L V6 ?
If it's not the same, I believe I need the MX3 V6 crossmember to bolt that V6 tranny in my protege.
If it's the same, then forget that and....
.... Which crossmember I need for the mx6/626 tranny ?

I hope it's clear enough :)

EDIT: also, which one is front to back and which one is side to side???? I guess the V6 tranny are side to side and the 4cylinders are front to back ?

Marlon June-26th-2003 07:49 AM

the tranny that comes with thr v6 mx-3 is the same as the probe tanny(the mx-6 is the same too but has longer gears i believe)
the tranny can hold around 300whp just like the pro lx tranny
there was never a 1.8l 4cyl in a mx-3, there was a v6 1.8 in a mx-3 thats from the same family of engines that the klze comes from
the crossmember you want is from the mx-3

SCiMMiA24 June-26th-2003 09:37 AM

ok then, is the crossmember similar to mine on my protege?

But is there a way to use the tranny that comes with the KLZE it should be better no ? the crossmember on those KL cars isn't a direct bolt-in that's the problem right ??

oh and also, is the 1.8L and 2.5L mx3 the same tranny ?

ali Vegas June-26th-2003 02:46 PM

The trannies are the same except gear rations are different.

Greg's car is waiting for a wiring harness. Message me if you can get us an mx3 v6 wiring harness
