Do they not compession test their engines before shipping them?

It was probably a used JDM motor most are sold as is without comp. test

yeah but every place I've known will compression check the engine before shipping

I know really for 20 bucks they could atleast check it

How do you propose to check the compression on an engine that isn't in a car?

Carry around a starter and a battery? Bolt each one to a transmission?

Woudlnt u be able to crank it over by hand?

If you can crank an engine fast enough by hand to get an accurate reading you should be a professional weight lifter.

Well they could always do a leakdown test, atleast i believe that is what it is called. I am no too sure about the details but i know the basics of the test.

you plug an air compressor into a spark plug hole and full up the cylinder to a certain point, i would think until it is full.

Then with a guage you can see if you are loosing any air, if there is a 7-10% loss of air then you have a problem.

you can also listen next to all of the outlets of the block. As in if you hear air hissing by the oil filter cap then your rings are bad. if you hear a hiss in your intake manifold then your intake valves are bad, same with the exaust.

this is considered one of the better tests to do with an engine from what i have been told. this way you dont have to do anything drastic to try and turn it over.

A Company who emphasized on MAZDA and sells MAZDA engines and MAZDA parts will have a MAZDA compression testing station set up......all you need is a starter or anything that will spin the fly wheel.

Well if you want to be that way, the MAZDA rotary compression tester (since an ad for an RX-7 started all this) is very expensive, and the MAZDA compression test requires a warm engine (got an engine dyno?) and at least 250 RPM cranking speed. But I'm sure they know that since they specialize in MAZDA engines...

i bleive them before i belive that guy.. just because someone says someting on a website doesnt mean its true.. according to what this says the guy should have been able to get it warrienteed if it was corksports fault..

For all the buy knows he could have ragged it to death and just blamed them so somone doenst think the car was drove harder than heck.

Never really done a compression test on a rotary engine..didn't think about that part.

I just pray that bitch starts ... or i will just have to pull it out and rebuild it ... I don't want to do that but I have a 2nd car and it wouldn't be that big of a deal
