Changing Left Front Axis

I was doing my first tune up this morning...

Bought spark plugs and the wires...
Actually I forgot to mention that in the other post:

I paid $22 for the spark cables from the Dealer (blue ones made by NGK)

I dunno if that's a normal prices for you Mazda guys.. but last time I bought cables for my Zetec I paid almost $60 !!!

Anyway....

I just discovered today that i do NOT have any CV boots left on my left axis !!!

It is all dust and NO grease left... :( :(

I'll be buying a rebuilt Left axis this week...

My "technician" will charge me $150 installed...

Is that a good price ???

OOps.... I also discovered that I need a O-ring on my distributor... it is leaking oil...

Ohh well.....

$22 is a good price for NGK wires.

Likewise, $150 is a good price for replacing a half-shaft, since the rebuilt half-shaft is about $60 on its own. He might have to charge you extra because pulling the left side will drain the tranny.

The distributor O-ring leaking is pretty normal. I'm doing my 3rd timing belt next week, and I will replace the O-ring (and the valve-cover gasket, pulg wires, etc) at the same time.

And. it's axle, or half-shaft, not axis. Axis is who we fought in WWII.:)
