another problem wit the car

i just change my batery and now i have a new problem. when i press the gas and i hear a click noise come from the tiries. it is not cv joint. could it be the rack-n-pinion(sorry for the spelling)

spooki August-11th-2003 05:45 PM

do you have power stearing?
if it ONLY makes that noise while your TURN the wheel it could be your stearing. but if you turn your wheel and hold it in one place (while moveing)and it makes that noise i would say its your cv joints.

does the clicking noise get faster as the car moves faster? or does it stay the same.

sounds like i have something in the tire or something

I have the same prob with my car, it makes noise only when i turn, i thought maybe something in the suspension needed lubrication or something. It sounds really bad, an yes i have power steering.

Tell me its something easy, i was about to go out and buy new struts to see if that fixed it.

i do have power steering but i know wat cv joints sound like and this doesn't sound like cv joints. i just had them change like 3 months ago

mine stays the same, its really REALLY noticable when im doing the whole backing out of a parking space thing, but its a constant no matter what speed im going, only happens when i turn.

kagekun-
when you turn the wheels and step on the gas and you get a POP POP POP POP POP untill you strightout your tires its CV joints, if the joints are really bad going stright will even make them click

as for your problem

hoodsum-

you need to give more detailed info for us to help you, have you checked for rocks in your tread? just a thought

agh thats so lame, i just got new boots like less then 6months ago, how often do these things go???

hoodsum August-12th-2003 06:48 PM

i checked if the tires where warped i didn't see anything. it only makes that that noise if i step on the gas hard and while turning
