Amateur question.

HI

I've got an amateur question:
Does the first gen. protege has a crank angle sensor?
Or where does it get the RPM signal?

Thanx any replies!

greenlantern94 January-13th-2004 08:27 PM

the tachometer gets the rpm signal from the ignition coil, it's an electric signal.

Kulinpapa January-13th-2004 08:34 PM

Than, where does the ecu knows the crank angle?

There's lots of us here interseted in getting another group buy, and if you have a problem with us discussing it here. DON"T READ IT!!! it's that simple, if it bothers you that much, just scroll right past it

Liquid_Ag January-17th-2004 10:24 AM

look. the guy that made the last set is in cuba somewhere. no major companies will make them for us, we have tried. unless you know someone that works with plastic, its hopeless

It's like trying to get mods for a Beretta... my buddy has a Beretta GTZ and there is literally NO aftermarket for them. Not even intakes or exhaust systems. At least there are some parts for our cars.

Lucky he is good with making shit so he designed a turbo setup for it and should be in the 13's once the track opens.

You all need to learn to make shit when it's not available/ too expensive.

When I had my Focus I made every single part that was put on it. Designed + built my own intake, and exhaust... and with practise driving it, it went from a 16.7 to a 15.9.

The key to building a fast car is one of two things...
1) Having a solid knowledge of automotive theory and design
2) Having a thick wallet

So unless you have #2, study and learn what makes cars fast(er), what works and what doesn't...

And I tell you what, there was nothing that made me more proud than beating people with #2 simply because I have #1.

Now I am by no means claiming to know everything about cars, or even a lot about them. But I know more than MOST people, and if I can't answer the question, I'll do my best to find the answers from other people or by doing research.

Rant over.

thats a very good point pro2go. most of the stuff on my car is custom fab, or something i used that was made for a different application. This site is FULL of excellent information, and while i dont particularly like it, the archives are one of my biggest sources of research. If everyone here would SEARCH rather than whine, and do some research of their own, they would have the satisfaction of doing things on their own

Pro2Go January-17th-2004 10:45 AM

And the best way to learn is to seek knowledge. Don't just expect everyone to be willing to share things offhand. Although it's nice when they do, they don't have to. And it does get annoying re-aswering the same questions over and over and over... there was even 2 seperate threads about clear corners... I was almost afraid to open the new one for fear of the fire within.

Liquid_Ag January-17th-2004 10:46 AM

hehe look at the one where i posted last. ownage :p. and btw im getting clears ;)

Well, if you searched and read the threads you would know the guy didnt even wanna make the 2nd group buy let alone a 3rd, Look overseas for some e-spec lights with stock clear courners and glass headlights or search on ebay for them. You can also make your own if you are good. We are lucky we can get anything we want to go fast handle good and stop on a dime if you guys wanna dish some cash for it, We even have prob 6 or 7 bumpers to bumpers to put on the car to make it look better. The only problem with these cars are the owners not wanted to spend cash or do work themselfs, Seems you all want a nice fast car but dont wanna spend more than 200 bucks total. Go to clunprotege and post a thread theres 10 times more people there with these clears maybe they will sell you a pair

my take on this is that some 1st gen owners want to basically own a Honda. when i say this i mean that they just want a huge aftermarket at their fingertips, where they can walk in to the nearest Quickie-Mart and pick up a set of clear corners and windshield washer lights for $5 from APC. frankly, im much happier that we DONT have this option. it makes the Pro/323 more unique. in fact i love it when someone comes up to me and say, "What kind of car IS that?" it lets me know my car is truly unique and interesting.

finally, it does get irritating when i see the same posts three times, but at different intervals. but you must understand that some of these users have just turned 16, have NEVER used a computer, or forum, and dont know what a search button is, or where to find it on the page. so cut them some slack. i have and my life is a lot less frustrating. :)
