2007 Protege noise underside of engine

I got stuck in mud and inteh process of tring to get out I spun the tires a lot. I now have a noise coming form the underside area of the engine and cold be coming from the engine or drivtrain. It is more apparent at about 2500rpm. Engine runs fine and sounds fine otherwise. Nothhing seems to be different other than the noise which is a loud clicking sound. Can hear it when changing gears at certian points and accelerating but again all around 2500rpm. I have the ES, manual transmission just over 300,000k. I have looked and have not found anything that is lose that could cause the noise from vibration. Thanks

It might be something as simple as a rock stuck in the heatshield of your catalytic converter, or it might be something as scary as hydrolock from sucking water into your engine.

Do you have a cold air intake? What year is your car? (no such aminal as a 2007 Protege) A vid with sound would help a ton.

Yes, sorry it is a 2002. I will capture a video or audio of the sound on the weekend and post it. I don't think I was deep enough to to suck water into the engine. It ws just a really soft path that went through and it became a muddy from me trying to get out. I did almost make it out but had to have someone pull me the rest of the way after becoming unable to move forward or backwards. Thanks
