I think that Wil tried to produce and sell them but there was no interest and he gave up.............that was back in the day though.

from what i've heard, it's more beneficial to leave it on then to take it off.

Tito, looks great man! What degrees are the bends you used ?(two 45's ???)
Where did you get them from, and the connectors? I've heard that Home Depot might have them but I've never checked for myslef and that's why I am asking.

Also, don't you think that it would be even better if you made another 90 degree bend (after the VAF) so the filter faces downwards and thus gets more cold air ??? I would guess that it wouldn't be that hard to do and would be almost like an original cold air intake.

thanks bro! actually it's an intake kit for an eclipse, but after some cutting here and there, i made it fit the pro. the kit came with blue couplers and blue silicone hose, but my friend mark (mazdayboy42) ordered me the red couplers. now i just need a piece of red silicone hose to replace the blue hose. i'm not sure about the piping, but i checked out home depot, lowe's, pep boys, autozone, and a few motorsports shops out here, and NOBODY had the couplers! i found a few places online, but they either had them for a good price but tried to rape you on S&H, or they were way too expensive.

i still have some of the piping left over, so i might eventually make a CAI extension. i still need to install the new filter, so we'll see what ideas i come up with when i put the new filter on. there's little to no room in that area unless you relocate the radiator reservoir or do some cutting. my friend hooked me up with a small inverted hood scoop, so even if i leave it the way it is now, i'll be getting plenty of air after it's installed anyhow.

here's the eclipse kit beforehand:

here's the hood scoop that i'm going to eventually have installed. it looks pretty big, but it's actually small. i'm gonna have it molded right behind the headlight where the filter is sitting, so it'll be sitting a couple of inches forward of where it's sitting in the pic (the first 1/3 to 1/2 will have to be trimmed off of it):

Tito, thanks for the pics and info man. This will really help me out when I attempt to do it myslef. I am just trying to find an RX-7 VAF so I do it all at once.

I got a few more questions for you. What year Eclipse is the intake from? What are the sites that sell the red couplers? I want to check them out.

Also, make sure you let us know when you have that hood scoop on. I am sure that it'll kick *** once it's done.

no problem bro, we're all here to share info with each other. the intake kit is from a 95-98 eclipse (non turbo). there are a few sites that sell the couplers, but the most reasonably priced couplers i found were at Import Studio, although they'll charge you about $15-20 for S&H and their 2.5" to 2.5" couplers only come in silver. you can also try ARD Performance. when i called them, they said they can order AEM couplers for $10 each, although i didn't inquire if they had a variety of colors available. there were a few more sites i found, but they wanted like $15-20 for EACH coupler! my friend knows a guy from a local shop, so he ordered me some for $7 each, and i didn't have to pay S&H.

as for the hood scoop, i'm probably not going to get it installed until i move back to cali and get the rest of my bodywork/paint done, so it won't be until around next january. it's pretty tempting to get it installed now though, so i might get it installed soon. i'll be sure to take pics when i decide to get it installed though.

go for it bro!

for what i am offering $145 is a fair price. It's not just for a product, but the skill and knowledge to put it together correctly.
