1.6 or 1.8 ??
how can i know if my Protege '90 is 1.6liter or 1.8liter ???
In the repair manual they talk about the oil dipstick.... but... you guys got a better way to know it? btw, it's SOHC..... |
I thought that all SOHC were 1.6L. I could be wrong though.
|
i always thought that the soch was a 1.8, as well as the doch. i might be wrong, check your hood, sometimes under the hood it has your vehicle specs, and tells the engine size.
|
why don't you look at your VIN?
|
yeah or check your VIN.
|
Apparently they ARE both 1.8L. I looked at Groharlems site.

All 90-94 proteges have 1.8 liters. The dx pro is a sohc 1.8 and the lx is a doch 1.8
|
yeah thats pretty much what i said in my first post lol :) but i really have no idea about your old ass cars. :)
|
hmmmmmmmmm but if you look in the Haynes Repair Manual in page 1-6 there's a picture showing the engin oil dipstick location and where mine is..... there's a bubble saying it's 1.6L .........
About the VIN... I'll look tomorow and what should be written so i can know it's 1.6 or 1.8 ?? |
ok i found out about the VIN.... I did a search and got the description of each numbers....
so ok my vin is JM1BG2236L....... and what ever is after that... so... the 3 means I got a Canadian 1.8 liter SOHC 2WD and the L means it's 1990 ... sooooooooooooo cool i'm not runing a little 1.6L lol I don't even know how the 1.6 runs but anyway... well... thank you! you guys help me very well when I have questions about my car! |
hey easy, :) i run a 1.6 litre, and im proud of it. glad we could help.
