1.3 liter SOHC
just wanted to know if you have any suggestions on how to modify a 1.3 liter engine of my 94' LX coz here in the phil. the 1.8 liter is not common. i want to know how i can put in more power without adding a turbo coz im really in a tight budget so i may not be able to buy 1. but i hoping you could give some suggestions even just by adjusting anything in the engine. i have already installed a filter and muffler. by the way my engine's air intake is carbeurator....thanx!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's probably a similar engine to that of the ford festiva here. I know the engines are similar because the festiva will except many mazda engine swaps, and the base engine is also a 1.3l. I'd try and look at some festiva sites to see what they've done... However, I'm sure a lot are just engine swaps.
Festiva motorsports Try that site, and e-mail them to see if the engines are in fact the same. They have quite a few things for sale for the festiva. |
Damn I'm good!

sorry its back from the grave :p
I've also got a 1324cc 16v SOHC in my 323 hatchback & with a carb ... they are quite common in the UK. bugger all tuning parts for them though. Mike |
I may be wrong, but wouldn't this just be a smaller displacement version of the b6?? If so perhaps some Miata parts would work??

I doubt it, the Miata engine is a DOHC 16v lump and this is a SOHC 16v (each cam lobe actuates 2 valves) puts out about 76bhp @ 6500 and fcuk all torque.
I'm not really bothered about modifying it because GTi (DOHC 1.8 16V 140bhp) are quite common and cheap in the UK. Just thought I'd let people know that there are more engine like theirs about. Mike |
