HOW? light in auto selector console?

Hi guys and girls, my first post here, OK, down to business. Has anyone replaced the light source on the centre console that indicates the gear selected with the auto shifter, my dads has gone out. We can still tell from the dash board readout but he finds the centre console blackout a little disconcerting in his old age . Car in question is one of the first MAZDA3 , make date JAN 2004 2.0 litre 4 speed auto in RHD Any tips or links on how to get at this bulb and necessary tear down of the console will be greatly appreciated. Sheesh?? Nobody ??

Well, it took me less time to find it once I got in than it did to sign up here !!

Opened up the centre console double deckered storage lid, grabbed the cup holder in front like a...er...six pack and reefed it out, next came the ash tray like compartment, just opened it up and reefed out gear selector black surround. The offending bulb is directly below the R of reverse on drivers side of RHD MAZ3 and a pleasant little thing to remove and refit NOT...a 6 or 7mm open end spanner on it may have been the way !!!

Part number is MAZ6 part listing G21D-46-215 Made in Japan QTY 1 LOT 7F25

Hold it......retails about A$16

The bulb is a glass wedge style, smaller than after market 1/4" size so had to go to the local MazDealer to be told never sold one and not in stock....BUT we have one down there somewhere...diligently came back with a different part number but same thing a red sleeve of rubbery plastic to give the coloured light
